At Centre de santé Saint-Boniface, our interdisciplinary approach to health care is based on the belief that a healthy lifestyle involves all aspects of a person’s physical, mental and emotional well-being. Using this approach, our professionals work as a team to comprehensively meet individual and family needs and to help our clients take control of their health.
Centre de santé takes into consideration all the factors which affect health. Our team is committed to working with you to help you maintain or improve your health. We offer a range of services in various locations for clients of all ages. Some of these services are offered in partnership with other organizations.
Centre de santé Saint-Boniface puts a team of health care professionals at your disposal to meet your needs.
Your family doctor supports you during the various stages of your life and provides you with strategies to meet your health needs, whether you are healthy or have an illness. The family doctors at Centre de santé are available for general consultations, including annual check-ups, requests for drugs or advice on concerns of daily life. When specialized services are required, your doctor refers you to the appropriate health care specialist.
The family doctors at Centre de santé perform physical exams and assess acute problems. They offer comprehensive obstetrics and delivery services. They provide prenatal and postnatal care and perform minor surgery. The doctors work at the Centre, but can also provide care in hospital or long-term care facilities.
The nurses at Centre de santé work with the doctors by monitoring your health and giving you information to help you manage and take charge of your health.
The nurse practitioners at Centre de santé are qualified to provide a wide range of services. They are trained to diagnose and treat common illnesses and minor injuries, as well as monitor stable chronic conditions. They perform physical exams and provide prenatal and postnatal care. The nurse practitioners also write prescriptions and take steps to further education, health promotion and disease and injury prevention.
CervixCheck is a cancer screening program run by CancerCare Manitoba. Its goal is to reduce the number of women who are diagnosed with cervical cancer. Cervical cancer screening (Pap test) is a test that can detect abnormal cells in the cervix before they become cancerous.
In partnership with CancerCare Manitoba, Centre de santé Saint-Boniface provides Pap tests every month, by appointment only. The test is free, and you don’t have to be a Centre de santé client to book an appointment.

At Centre de santé Saint-Boniface, the primary care dietitian is available to provide advice on nutrition and answer questions on how your eating habits affect your health. She can help you develop a healthy eating plan designed to meet your special needs. Depending on your concerns, she is the contact person who helps you balance your diet and gives you information on mineral and vitamin supplements.
Mental health services
At Centre de santé Saint-Boniface, the mental health counsellors can help you deal with difficult situations in your life. They offer counselling for individuals, couples or families, perform assessments, and provide coordination, guidance and case management services. They intervene in cases of emotional crisis or social emergencies and provide psychosocial rehabilitation services. They also conduct education, prevention and health promotion sessions.
Services provided by an exercise specialist
At Centre de santé Saint-Boniface, a primary care exercise specialist is available to prescribe exercises and physical activities for you in order to prevent and manage chronic diseases and promote health. Our exercise specialist is a university educated professional in kinesiology and exercise physiology. She is also a certified athletic therapist.
The specialist works with a wide variety of people ranging from children to seniors, healthy individuals to individuals and families who are challenged by musculoskeletal limitations and cardiovascular, pulmonary, neuromuscular and metabolic diseases. Using a client-centered approach, the specialist plans interventions that encourage you to participate in your own health care and she follows up with you and then refers you to the community resources that you require.
Community support is one of Centre de santé Saint-Boniface’s key health promotion strategies. The Centre has established close ties with partners to raise awareness of disease prevention and health promotion. It has organized a community development team to help individuals, families and community groups with various aspects of daily life, including housing, education, nutrition, transportation and safety.
The Centre’s community development team provides resources to community members or refers them to individuals and organizations that can help them. The team distributes information as well as coordinates and supports the organization of health awareness and promotion workshops.
The community development team’s overall objective is to help community members take charge of their health.
Health Links – Info Santé
In collaboration with the Provincial Health Contact Centre, Centre de santé provides the bilingual services of the Health Links–Info Santé program. For more information, visit the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA) website.
You can call Health Links–Info Santé to speak with a qualified nurse, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The nurses offer callers a professional needs assessment, help navigating the health system, information on health issues, recommendations, referrals and follow-ups.
